Abstract
DIAZ CABANILLAS, Lalo Ruben et al. Antihyperglycemic and hypoglycemic effect of the hydroalcoholic extract from the bark of Abuta grandifolia (Menispermaceae) "abuta" in Rattus rattus with induced diabetic. Arnaldoa [online]. 2019, vol.26, n.3, pp.1083-1090. ISSN 1815-8242. http://dx.doi.org/10.22497/arnaldoa.263.26315.
The search for new alternatives to control the Diabetes Mellitus (DM), chronic disease and high incidence in global public health, encouraged us to conduct this research. With a classic experimental design, we evaluated the effect of hydro alcoholic extract of Abuta grandifolia "abuta" in rats with induced diabetes in order to observe their possible hypoglycemic and antihyperglycemic effect. The controls of glucose levels were taken in fasting with an Advantage glucometer, at 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, 300 and 480 minutes. The analysis of the results demonstrated that the administration of this extract in single dose (250 mg / kg) in diabetic rats produce a hypoglycemic effect statistically significant (p<0.05) and no effect antihyperglycemic. However, in healthy rats presented significant antihyperglycemic effect. (p<0.05).
