Abstract
ARELLANES CANCINO, Nimcy and SOSA PERDOMO, Amparo. A comparison between the flora of the Homegardens of Oaxaca and Michoacán States, Mexico based on Traditional Knowledge. Arnaldoa [online]. 2019, vol.26, n.3, pp.1153-1164. ISSN 1815-8242. http://dx.doi.org/10.22497/arnaldoa.263.26320.
The home garden is an agroecosystem with traditional roots, in which a family nucleus lives and where the processes of selection, domestication, diversification and conservation are oriented to the production of flora and fauna that have a close relationship with the preservation, social conditions, economic and cultural aspects of the family, (Mariaca et al. 2012). In this research, the conjunction between the traditional knowledge of family gardens in the States of Oaxaca and Michoacán is made, from the Monte Carlo method and the ethnoecological triad: Kosmos, Corpus, and Praxis (K-C-P) to explain the relationship of human groups on their environment. The objective was to compile a list of plant and animal species in common to carry out a comparative analysis of their main uses and reflect on the relationship between traditional knowledge and the existence of these species in family gardens. The results show the existence in common of 19 species of plants and two of animals, whose main uses are medicinal, ornamental and self-consumption. Finally, it is affirmed that in both sites the forms of use and preferences for the maintenance of plants and animals are being transformed, with a high tendency to being an ornamental garden.
