ESCOBAL PEREZ, Lizbeth; CHAVEZ HORNA, Giovana Ernestina y RONCAL RABANAL, Manuel Roberto. Efficiency of the vegetal tissue of Armatocereus rauhii subsp. Balsasensis (F. Ritter) Ostolaza and Espostoa mirabilis F. Ritter (Cactaceae) in the removal of total suspended solids in the water for human consumption of the district of Balzas - Amazonas. Arnaldoa [online]. 2020, vol.27, n.1, pp.157-167. ISSN 1815-8242. http://dx.doi.org/10.22497/arnaldoa.271.27108.
The efficiency of Armatocereus rauhii subsp. Balsasensis R. and Espostoa mirabilis R in the removal of total suspended solids (TSS) in water for human consumption in the district of Balzas - Amazonas, using the plant tissue of the species Armatocereus rauhii subsp. Balsasensis R. and Espostoa mirabilis R., in relation mass - volume of 25 g / L, 50 g / L and 75 g / L for the treatments and an adaptation of the jar test methodology. The study was conducted directly in the stored water that supplies the community of Balzas for consumption, presenting a turbidity of 40.08 NTU that makes it unfit for human consumption. After the treatments, turbidity and total suspended solids decreased to 39.47% and to 34.10% with the species of Armatocereus rauhii subsp. Balsasensis R. and using Espostoa mirabilis R. decreases to 27.45% and 25.24% respectively, the electrical conductivity increases significantly for both species; in the analyzes, the pH decreases from 8.33 to a range of 7.34 to 6.72. However, not all the mass - volume relationships (g / L) of both cactus species were able to be efficient, thus determining that the mass - volume ratio of 25 g / L of plant tissue is the most optimal
