Resumen

SERRANO FLORES, Carlos Alberto; VILLENA CHAVEZ, Gretty Katherina  y  RODRIGUEZ RODRIGUEZ, Eric F.. Some phytochemical components and antioxidant activity in representatives of the Mentheae tribe (Lamiaceae) of Peru. Arnaldoa [online]. 2020, vol.27, n.1, pp.169-180. ISSN 1815-8242.  http://dx.doi.org/10.22497/arnaldoa.271.27109.

Using the spectrophotometric and uhplc chromatography methods, the content of total phenols, total flavonoids, total hydroxycinnamic acids, total antioxidant capacity, the percentage of ursolic and oleanolic triterpenic acids as well as the percentage of rosmarinic acid in thirteen Peruvian representatives of the tribe Mentheae (Lamiaceae) were evaluated. The taxa are: Clinopodium brevicalyx (Epling) Harley & A. Granda, Clinopodium pulchellum (Kunth) Govaerts, Clinopodium revolutum (Ruiz & Pav.) Govaerts, Clinopodium sericeum (C. Presl ex Benth.) Govaerts, Hedeoma mandoniana Wedd., Lepechinia floribunda (Benth.) Epling, Lepechinia meyenii (Walp.) Epling, Minthostachys mollis Griseb., Salvia dombeyi Epling, Salvia cuspidata Ruiz & Pav., Salvia haenkei Benth., Salvia oppositiflora Ruiz & Pav., Salvia sagittata Ruiz & Pav. The species with the highest antioxidant activity and at the same time with the highest rosmarinic acid content is Lepechinia meyenii and the species with the highest triterpenic acid content is Clinopodium revolutum. All other species show results between these two extreme species. Lepechinia floribunda and Salvia sagitatta are also important for their rosmarinic acid content and antioxidant capacity while Clinopodium brevicalyx, Salvia sagitatta, Salvia cuspidata and Clinopodium sericeum are important for their flavonoid content.

Palabras clave : Mentheae; Menthinae; Salviinae; triterpenic acids; rosmarinic acid.
