Abstract

BELTRAN, Hamilton  and  GALAN DE MERA, Antonio. The Angiosperms of the Department of Lima (Peru): Diversity and distribution patterns. Arnaldoa [online]. 2021, vol.28, n.2, pp.217-242. ISSN 1815-8242.  http://dx.doi.org/10.22497/arnaldoa.282.28201.

Angiosperms of the Lima Department: Diversity and distribution patterns. The orography of the Department of Lima is characterized by the pronounced difference in altitude between the coast and the highlands, and presents a great floral richness of flora with 1701 species, of which 19,6% are national endemics and 3,2% departmental endemics; 6,8% are introduced species derived from anthropic influence on the territory, most of them from Eurasia and Africa. Due to the aridity of the climate, caused by the rain shadow provided by the Andes, and the precipitations due to the prolonged thermal inversion caused by the cold Humboldt ocean current, most of the growth forms are herbs (78.2%). Landscapes in Lima are organized according to five bioclimatic belts (thermotropical, mesotropical, supratropical, orotropical and cryorotropical) among which the flora is distributed. The thermotropical level is the most diverse in terms of species (291), endemics (41) and introduced species (39).

Keywords : Flora; Lima; bioclimatology; endemism; neophytes; Peru; vegetation.
