Abstract

GALAN DE MERA, Antonio; LINARES PEREA, Eliana; MONTOYA QUINO, Juan  and  VICENTE ORELLANA, José Alfredo. New data on the vegetation of Southern Peru: Additions to the departments of Arequipa, Cusco and Puno. Arnaldoa [online]. 2022, vol.29, n.1, pp.9-30. ISSN 1815-8242.  http://dx.doi.org/10.22497/arnaldoa.282.28101.

On the basis of the Braun-Blanquet phytosociological method, we present several novelties on the vegetation of southern Peru, distributed between the departments of Arequipa, Cusco and Puno. We propose as new, one phytosociological class (Hymenoxyo robustae-Distichlietea spicatae), one order (Hymenoxyo robustae-Distichlietalia spicatae), two alliances (Kageneckio lanceolatae-Tecomion sambucifoliae and Salicornio cuscoensis-Distichlion spicatae), and six associations (Berberido bolivianae- Flourensietum polycephalae, Schino mollis-Prosopidetum andicolae, Schino mollis-Prosopidetum calderensis, Schoenoplectetum badii, Poo candamoanae-Festucetum humilis and Woodsio montevidensis-Begonietum veitchii). In accordance with the International Code of Phytosociological Nomenclature, the name Saturejion bolivianae is mutated to Clinopodion bolivianae, and Hymenoxyo robustae-Distichlietum spicatae is proposed as a new name.

Keywords : Bushes; Carob groves; Grasslands; Phytosociology; Rupicolous vegetation; Salt marshes; South of Peru.
