Abstract

RECALDE CONTRERAS, Milagros De Jesús et al. Effect of Maytenus laevis (reissek) Biral(Celastraceae) on the regeneration capacity of Girardia festae. Arnaldoa [online]. 2023, vol.30, n.2, pp.249-258.  Epub July 30, 2023. ISSN 1815-8242.  http://dx.doi.org/10.22497/arnaldoa.302.30211.

Tissue regeneration is a subject that continues to demand new proposals from the academy that further improve what has been advanced to date. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of four concentrations of Maytenus laevis (Reissek) Biral (Celastraceae) (0g/L, 1g/L, 2g/L and 4g/L) on the regeneration of Girardia festae. A completely randomized experimental design was developed in blocks, where the type of planarian fragments (upper, lower, cephalic, middle, caudal, left and right) constituted the blocks and the different concentrations of M. laevis the treatments. The different types of fragments were subjected to the different treatments; after that, the visible formation times of the blastema and the formation time of the complete individual were evaluated. With the help of light microscopy, it was determined that the treatment of 4g/L of M. laevis promoted a significant reduction in blastema formation time (in minutes) and complete individual formation time (in hours) in each type of fragment. from M. laevis; likewise, it was determined that the upper fragment developed the formation of the blastema and complete formation of the individual in less time. The analysis of variance confirmed the presence of statistically significant differences.
