VERA-MARMANILLO, Verónika Isela; RADO ARENAS, Daniel Enrique; LOAIZA, Renzo Rodrigo y JIMENEZ MORVELI, Adriana. Effectiveness of the larvae Hermetia illucens as bioconversor organism of human excretes under laboratory conditions. Manglar [online]. 2023, vol.20, n.2, pp.169-176. Epub 05-Jul-2023. The objective was to determine the effectiveness of the larva of Hermetia illucens as a bioconverting organism of human excreta, in favor of a basic sanitation system in rural areas lacking it. The method by induction of postures in substrate for occlusion and larval development, the first sample 181.2 g of biomass (1010 larvae) for the first treatment in a substrate of 4.5 kg of fecal matter and 364.2 g of biomass (1908 larvae) for the second treatment in a substrate of 4.9 kg of fecal matter. Monitoring of physicochemical parameters of NPK, pH, EC, T and HR and biological (Blastocystis hominis and helminth eggs). The results showed a reduction of MO (4.5 kg to 1.5 kg sample 1) and (4,942 kg to 1.1 kg sample 2) reducing odors and eliminating protozoa. The mineralizing effectiveness of Hermetia illucens evidenced in the electroconductivity (1536 µS/cm initial and 5487 µS/cm final) for sample 1, (2463 µS/cm initial and 4825 µS/cm final) for sample 2. In the analysis by X-ray fluorescence, N: 4.4%, P: 1.9% K: 2.5% was obtained for sample 1 treated and N: 4.9%, P: 2.9% K: 2.5% for sample 2 treated. The decrease in microbiological agents was evaluated by SEM, without protozoan cysts described by microbiological analysis (Blastocystis hominis) and decrease in the volume of excreta.
