Resumen
ESPINOZA-GUANILO, Antonio Héctor. Fans and fanfictions, reading, appropriation and production, analyzed from the perspective of reception theory: the case of Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire. Desde el Sur [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.1, e0003. ISSN 2076-2674. http://dx.doi.org/10.21142/des-1301-2021-0003.
The aim of this research is to analyze the reception of a literary and audiovisual work within an online fan community and the creation of fan fiction literature by the members of that same community, as well as the relationship with the canonical author. Data was collected through content analysis of texts written by fans and use of a questionnaire completed by that same group. Through this information, and the application of reception theory concepts, it was shown that fans constitute an active audience, producing new content through the appropriation and resignification of the original text. In addition, evidence was gathered on the ways in which fans consume the canonical story, and how they interact with it and the author.
