Abstract

CELIS ESTRADA(, Diego. Study and assessment of the 20th century restorations of the Real Felipe Fortress of Callao-Peru. Devenir [online]. 2022, vol.9, n.18, pp.111-132.  Epub Nov 01, 2022. ISSN 2312-7562.  http://dx.doi.org/doi.org/10.21754/devenir.v9i18.1292.

The Real Felipe Fortress was one of the most important strongholds of the Spanish Monarchy and the scene of important historical events. It was a key stronghold that controlled the port of Callao, gateway to Lima. One of the greatest examples of Spanish military architecture of the 18th century. Over time it has undergone different interventions and changes of use, it was only in the twentieth century where it was aware of its heritage value and was restored at different times, with different approaches and results.

It should be noted that no patrimonial investigations have been carried out. For this reason, this research aims to present a historical review of the circumstances of the different moments in which the fortress was intervened.

Keywords : Restoration; assessment; criteria; military architecture.
