The recommendations of the guidelines indicate that the voice of the audio descriptions should not convey emotions to avoid influencing the interpretation of a work. The aim of this work is to identify the characteristics of the voice of different audio describers to determine which voices users perceive as more pleasant. The characterization of a pleasant voice can contribute to the improvement of this service, avoiding the fatigue of those people, generally visually impaired, who need this service to compensate for the lack of visual information. Starting from a corpus of audio description (uab. cat/viw), tone, speed of elocution and voice volume of 10 male and female audio describers are analyzed in three languages: Spanish, Catalan, and English. Subsequently, the voices are evaluated by a total of 208 subjects, with and without visual impairment, native speakers of these languages. Although we started from the hypothesis that the characteristics that define a pleasant voice in one language also apply to another language, although with differences depending on the vision problems of the users, the results show that the perception of a pleasant voice does not depend so much on the visual impairment, but rather on the native language in which the audio description is produced.
