Resumen

LUNA GARCIA, Rosa Elvira. Impact of endogenous factors on secondary neological processing by translation students. Bol. Acad. peru. leng. [online]. 2022, n.72, pp.329-369.  Epub 16-Dic-2022. ISSN 0567-6002.  http://dx.doi.org/10.46744/bapl.202202.010.

The main objective of this research is to determine the impact of the intervening variables age, university of origin, semester of study, linguistic level and sex on the dependent variable secondary neological processing and on the independent variables neological detection, cognitive effort and linguistic attitude. The study worked with a sample made up of 284 students belonging to the fifth to the tenth semesters of two private universities in Lima. For measuring the dependent variable secondary neological processing of translation students, we used as inputs, on the one hand, the general data provided by the student in the applied neological test regarding age, semester of study and sex; and, on the other hand, the academic records of grades, from which we extracted the average of the language courses passed. This average served to determine the level of linguistic competence of the study sample. The measurement of the dimensions of the independent variables: neological detection, cognitive effort and linguistic attitude was carried out through the application of a neological test applied to the study sample. The study reached the following conclusions: the impact of the intervening variables on secondary neological processing is differentiated; the overall total, the university of origin and the semester of study had a significant impact on secondary neological processing, as opposed to the factors gender, age and linguistic level, whose influence was not so decisive in such processing.

Palabras clave : secondary neologic processing; neologic detection; cognitive effort; linguistic attitude.
