ROLDAN YLLANES, Amparo e ARDILA CABRERA, Vanessa del Carmen. The use of the word malandro from the perspective of cognitive diachronic semantics. Bol. Acad. peru. leng. [online]. 2022, n.72, pp.371-400. Epub 16-Dez-2022. ISSN 0567-6002. http://dx.doi.org/10.46744/bapl.202202.011.
The Spanish-speaking community is very large. The meanings of a word vary according to the country or region where it is used. For this reason, cognitive diachronic semantics evaluates not only the evolution of meanings, but also the relationship between experience and semantic structure. In this framework, it is interesting to analyze the word malandro from the theory of prototypes proposed by Rosch (1973) and the model of diachronic semantics of prototypes by Geeraerts (1997). To this end, the corpus is selected from the electronic platform of the Real Academia Española -which contains in its base the Corpus del Diccionario histórico de la lengua española (DHLE), the Diccionario de la lengua española (DLE), the Diccionario de americanismos (DA)- and from the different lexicographic repertoires of the Spanish language academies of several Latin American countries. This methodology allows us not only to learn about the evolution of malandro, from a diachronic perspective, but also to determine the prototype and its peripheral uses within the Hispanic world between the 17th and 20th centuries. Thus, it is possible to obtain a perspective of the behavior of this word according to its context and use in the pan-Hispanic world.
