Abstract

This is a descriptive study that aims to analyze and identify the lexical fields used by the members of the Tuna of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM). For collecting the fundamental information of the research, interviews were conducted with 10 selected tunos [members of the Tuna]. A questionnaire was used to collect the lexicon and classify it semantically, according to the use of the lexical fields of the tunos of the UNMSM. The results of the research showed that the lexicon of the Tuna of the UNMSM presents 116 terms that are organized in 8 subfields: characteristics of the members, events in the tuna, forms of “apardillar” [actions new members of the tuna have to do or learn on their training as tunos], musical genres, musical instruments, hierarchy, other daily terms, and clothing.
