Abstract
ZAMUDIO CAMPOS, Roberto. Nominalizations with the action and effect suffix -tio in the letter b of two Latin dictionaries. Bol. Acad. peru. leng. [online]. 2022, n.72, pp.467-492. Epub Dec 16, 2022. ISSN 0567-6002. http://dx.doi.org/10.46744/bapl.202202.014.
This research aims at observing the meaning of nominalizations using the Latin suffix -tio considering their verbal bases and the senses of action and effect that define them. This study has a descriptive-explanatory approach and takes as a working corpus the nominalizations with -tio in the letter b of two representative dictionaries in the study of the Latin language: the Diccionario latino-español, by Agustín Blánquez, and the Diccionario por raíces del latín y de las voces derivadas [Dictionary by Latin Roots and derived words], by Santiago Segura. In the end, we can conclude that the nominalizations of action and effect with -tio, corresponding to the letter b in the Latin dictionaries referred to, unlike what happens in Spanish, either offer an idea of action or an idea of effect. Moreover, these works do not offer examples of use in their definitions.
