SILVA ESCUDERO, Gisela; CASTILLO SILVA, Estela Vicenta  y  ATANASIO ASENCIOS, Marilú Soledad. Colexification and imbrication in polysemous networks: the case of the verb mover in Spanish. Bol. Acad. peru. leng. [online]. 2023, n.73, pp.11-38.  Epub 30-Jun-2023. ISSN 0567-6002.  http://dx.doi.org/10.46744/bapl.202301.001.

The verb mover in Spanish shows a set of senses that the monosemic tradition has interpreted as a single meaning that responds to the context in which it is used; however, in this paper we address the polysemous phenomenon of the verb of movement in question in terms of its associations with the lexeme, that is, with its ability to colexify different senses. In this sense, we determine the semantic interweavings organized in structures in which the configuration of semantic maps is evident; that is, we make use of the assumptions of Cognitive Linguistics (CL), according to which meanings operate in relationships that show a clear motivation. This way of evaluating the meanings of the verb mover allows us to understand how speakers of Spanish are able to establish different directions in the relations of colexified meanings or senses, so that it is possible to predict and explain the meanings manifested, the senses that can be interpreted and the dialectal differences. We detected that the verb mover defines a cognitive reference point motivated by material reality, but it can be extended to senses associated with the concept of process or change.

Palabras clave : mover; polysemy; colexification; semantic networks.
