MARTIN CIPRIAN, Santiago J.. Etymologies of Japanese words of Japanese origin in the DLE. Bol. Acad. peru. leng. [online]. 2023, n.73, pp.39-60. Epub 30-Jun-2023. ISSN 0567-6002. http://dx.doi.org/10.46744/bapl.202301.002.
This article proposes a review of the etymology of words of properly Japanese origin appearing in the current edition of the Diccionario de la lengua española (DLE). The first formation and evolution of these words has been traced within the Proto-Japonic and Proto-Japanese levels, as well as their changes from the ancient to the pre-modern or modern language, before serving as a basis for borrowings into European languages and finally into Spanish. The primary intention of this work is to provide a guide to facilitate the lexicographer’s work when elaborating etymologies, both for the DLE and for the historical dictionaries of the Spanish language.
