The study analyses the complex employment situation of university graduates in South America, considering factors such as educational quality, labour market demand, specialized skills and technological adaptation. The objective is to analyze the existing literature on the situation of graduates from South American universities between 2019 and 2023. The PRISMA method was used, selecting 30 relevant studies. The criteria included English-language studies focused on the employment situation of South American graduates, excluding other approaches. The search was carried out in ERIC, Scopus and SciELO. The results provided a deeper understanding of graduates’ career paths and promoted skills for their insertion in an ever-changing market. The results of the systematic situation allowed a better understanding of the situation and evolution of professional trajectories, fostering skills in order to benefit the graduates in their insertion into the labour market. It is concluded that the employment situation of graduates is a challenge that needs collaborative action between educational institutions, governments with the establishment of policies that address the changing world of work.
